Thomas Harrison, a former cell biologist turned marketing guru at Omnicom Group (nyse: OMC – news - people ), explores the link between entrepreneurship and genetic architecture in his new book, Instinct. In it, Harrison fleshes out his theories in interviews with founders of large companies, such as Home Depot (nyse: HD – news - people ), Vanguard, USA Networks and Mrs. Fields Cookies, as well as with top executives from JetBlue (nasdaq: JBLU – news - people ), Burger King, Harley Davidson and IBM (nyse: IBM – news - people ). While Harrison concurs that there are indeed born entrepreneurs, he concedes that others may have latent traits, which can be teased out and developed by using the eight techniques described in his book. After a topsy-turvy 2009 – 2010, investors predict that 2011 should be a year of strong recovery for the tech industry. A recent survey conducted by auditing giant KPMG collected financial projections from top technology executives and found that almost all were optimistic about the new year. According to News Factor, KPMG global chair for the information, communication and entertainment practice Gary Matuszak was pleased with the findings of the research. “Almost 9 out of 10 executives said they expect business conditions in the technology sector to improve in 2011, including stronger revenue,” he reports.
The survey also asked the executives what they believed would be the biggest contributors to recovery in the new year. The most popular answer was “cloud computing,” representing 54% of responses. Other common answers included mobile applications, client computing/virtualization, and advanced analytics. wealthvest

iPhone app tracks lunar eclipse

To help people see the show and learn about the event, Southern Stars is releasing the latest version of its SkySafari Lite iPhone app for free through December 21. The app correctly predicts when the eclipse will happen and displays it, along with additional information.
SkySafari Lite runs on the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad and includes astronomy maps of the heavens and planets, using the internal compass of your device so you can point it up to the sky and it will tell you exactly what planets and constellations you are viewing.
This lunar eclipse is particularly interesting because it comes on the Winter Solstice. The last time that happened was 1638, and it won’t happen again until 2094.

Inspector Gadget vs. iPhone & DROID

Inspector Gadget predicted the end of 2010 in 1983. Today it seems that Penny fits the persona of the iPhone and DROID fits the persona of Dr. Claw. – Just an observation by our team in this morning’s meeting. 
- Penny is Gadget’s precocious niece. She is a master of investigation and technology who is the one truly responsible for foiling M.A.D.’s schemes, a fact only Brain knows. Using a computer disguised as a book and a utility wristwatch, she monitors Gadget’s activities, communicates with Brain and foils M.A.D.’s plots. Penny very often gets captured by M.A.D. agents before calling Brain for help or escaping by herself.
- Doctor Claw is the largely unseen antagonist and leader of the evil M.A.D. organization. Only his arm and gloved hand are visible, leaving the viewer to guess as to his face and body. He is usually at a computer terminal where he monitors his various schemes, often in a creepy old castle. Although he is aware of Gadget’s idiocy, he believes the Inspector to be his greatest enemy, never fully realizing that it is actually Penny and Brain who foil his plots in each episode (although he or his M.A.D. agents have captured Penny and sometimes Brain a number of times). He is always seen with his fat pet cat M.A.D. Cat, who reaps the benefits of his brief victories and bears the brunt of his defeats. wikipedia
